Not long after I started Taichi, one of my fellow students told me that I should read Laozi's DaoTeChing. I picked up the book from a book shelf in a book store, read for a while, did not understand one single thing. Two years latter, when one of my students showed me the book, I realized that every word in DaoTeChing is for Taichi. Taichi is a live Tao. Only through practice, could one understand the philosophy. Reading and thinking rarely help. Action starts first in Daorism, thoughts or inspiration comes second. Click to view a movie of Taichi pushhand, you will see a power coming not from the master's (he was 80) muscle but from his understanding of Daorism.
